Finding a Safe Retirement IRA
According to the Government Accountability Office report on401(k) plans, people are better off “leaving the money at work” by staying intheir employer’s 401(k) plans. However, the fees associated with 401(k) plans, especially small company plans, extractan absurd amount from the saver’s return.
A better idea is to rollover into a safe retirementIRA. When searching for a saferetirement IRA, savers should look for plans that offer a broad selection ofexchange-traded funds and inexpensive index funds, plans with no “maintenance”fees, and plans with fees that are limited to commissions on trades. Many big brokerage houses already offer saferetirement IRAs with these characteristics.
