New Jersey Man Defrauds Dying Woman by Posing as Nephew

James J. Demitro, a 43-year-old man from Matawan, NewJersey, admitted to stealing about $1 million dollars and the family home of aterminal cancer patient with dementia. 

Demitro defrauded the 87-year-old Red Bank woman by posingas her nephew and hiring attorneys to draft a will naming him executor and fullbeneficiary of her estate.  Demitro alsohad attorneys transfer the deed of the woman’s home to himself for $1.  He was arrested with over $600,000 found inhis bank accounts and a $150,000 Ferrari Spyder in his possession.  Under the terms of his plea agreement,Demitro now faces eight years in prison for attempted impersonation and theftby deception.
