Kirima’s Wills Thrown Out

Gavel

Two contested wills of Kenyan business tycoon Gerishon Kirimahave recently been deemed invalid.  Thedisputed wills have caused family strife between Kirima’s third wife and herstepchildren.  One will drafted inNairobi favored his third wife, but was found to be executed under undueinfluence and lacking the requirements of attestation.  The other will drafted in London favored hischildren, but Kirima was found to lack mental capacity.

Because Kirima has no valid will, the Sh700 million estate willbe distributed under intestacy laws. However, the judge “found that the Kirima Trust, which controls themajority of his vast estate, was a genuine document, and urged the family touse it to secure the estate.”
