North Carolina Considering Estate Tax Repeal

Following the lead of states likeTennessee and Indiana, North Carolina is looking to get rid of their estate taxin the coming weeks.  If newly electedRepublican Governor Pat McCrory is able to keep his promise to repeal theestate tax, that would leave 19 states with a separate state estate orinheritance tax.  North Carolina currentlymatches the federal estate tax exemption at $5.25 million per person.

North Carolina billionairesstanding to benefit from an estate tax repeal include software giants JamesGoodnight and John Sall as well as investor Clemmie Spangler, Jr.  If the repeal is successful, it will retroactivelygo into effect January 1, 2013.
