Charitable Deductions for Property Contributions May Be a Burden on the Tax Code

IRS-100wiRoger Colinvaux from Catholic University of America -Columbus School of Law, has published an article claiming that charitable deductions for property contributions should be done away with. Originally the deduction was drafted to promote contributions. However, the deduction has proved to be quite complicated and yields little benefit to donees. Preventing the use of the deduction (but allowing for a few exceptions) would create an easier tax code while simultaneously increase revenue, reduce fraud, and assist the administration of taxes.

Special thanks to Jim Hillhouse (Professional Legal Marketing (PLM, Inc.)) for bringing this article to my attention.
