Thousands Suing the Robbin’s Estate for Unpaid Royalties

SpindletopIn Nicholasville, Kentucky, thousands of angry people aresuing Jewell Robbins’ estate for alleged unpaid royalties from the 1901 Spindletop oilstrike. Jewell Robbins died on September 20, 2012 after suffering from a long-termserious illness. However, before her death, The attorney general caught Robbinsselling unregistered securities to people. Robbins was sentenced to five yearsof probation for violating securities laws. In 2006, the court granted apermanent injunction to prevent her from selling any securities. She owedthousands in royalties to the people who invested in the Spindletop. The claimsrange from $25 to several thousands of dollars. Robbin’s daughters are underinvestigation for following in their mothers footsteps and selling unregisteredsecurities.
