UK Will Soon Have Voluntary Code of Conduct for Will Writing

Britain

As I have previously discussed, the UK Government decidednot to follow the recommendations of the Legal Services Board and regulate willwriting.

In response to this inaction, the Law Society is developing a voluntary code of conduct called the Wills andInheritance Scheme that is set to launch in July.  This code hopes to increase consumerconfidence in will writing by having firms subscribe to a minimum set ofstandards.  Firms that apply and qualifyfor the scheme will receive a one-year accreditation.
