Caretaker Jailed After Stealing Thousands
Caretaker Kathleen Mae Littleton, 68, was recentlyconvicted of felony financial exploitation of an 88-year-old woman under hercare.
Evidence showed Littleton coerced the victim into givingher power of attorney, which she used to completely deplete $100,000 fromvictim’s investment fund. Littleton alsofired any sitter that got too close to victim and even prevented victim’sdaughter from having unsupervised contact with her. Littleton threatened to put victim in anursing home if she didn’t do as requested.
When victim died in March 2010, Littleton also received$27,000 from victim’s estate after influencing victim to name her in the will. Littleton will spend two months injail and pay the $27,000 as restitution to victim’s daughter.
