New York State to Issue Estate Tax Refunds

If their partner died, same-sex spouses may have beenrequired to pay thousands in New York estate taxes. 

Now, as a result of the Supreme Court’s DOMA decision, NewYork Governor Andrew Cuomo recently stated that same-sex spouses who overpaidtheir estate taxes will receive a refund. 

The full amount of refunds has not been announced.
