Some Tips for Dealing with the Death of a Loved One
When a loved one dies, there are a number of mundanetasks that must be done on their behalf. Although it may not be easy to do while grieving, these tasks areimportant and some must be done immediately.
First, notify the proper authorities to makearrangements to transport the remains. Act quickly if he or she was an organdonor.
Next, contact their family and friends to help withcontacting others, providing support for the spouse or children, and takingcare of their pet or home. These peoplemay also be helpful when making funeral arrangements and locating key documents.
Other entities that need to be contacted, and someprovided with a death certificate, include: employers, social security administration,medicare, veteran’s administration, the U.S. post office, the DMV, banks,credit card issuers, insurance companies, social media, and utility companies.
