Deceptive Texas Woman Sentenced to Ten Years

An Axtell, Texas woman wasrecently sentenced to ten years in prison for deception to become heir to theestate of an elderly man.

Melissa Adler, a 45-year-oldmarketing director for a nursing center, befriended WWII veteran Eugene Handleyand led him to alter his will to name her as a beneficiary of over$100,000.  Before his death in 2005, Handleyhad been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was found incompetent to lawfullyalter his will.
