Dementia Patient’s Bank Account Dwindled Down by Flint Woman
Veronica Pitts, 47, recently pleaded guilty to embezzling between $1,000 to $20,000 from adementia patient.
Pitts had obtained a conservatorship over the man, who wasadmitted into a nursing home in 2006. Pitts established a joint account with the man and admitted using someof his money after suffering from financial hardships. She was discovered after the nursing homenever received payment on his $20,544 bill even though he regularly receivedincome from Social Security and a General Motors pension.
Pitts will serve five years probation and pay over $20,000in restitution.
