Hip- Hop Copyright Infringement Scuffle

ThreeartistArtists T.I. (Clifford Harris), Pharrell (Pharrell Williams), and Robin Thicke filed a suit against Marvin Gaye’s estate. The suit was preemptive because of the recent accusations  that their newest successful single, “Blurred Lines” copied Gayes “Got To Give It Up.” However, the similarities are nothing more than “commonplace musical elements.” The artists are hoping that a judge will rule that “Blurred Lines” is not an infringement and that the Gaye estate not pursue anymore claims on these grounds.
