Woman Suspected of Forging Documents for a Rent Scam
Mary Mechelli, from Pittsburgh, allegedly forged awill and other paperwork so that she could take a house from an elderlyneighbor and rent it after the neighbor died. Raymond Conway, Mechelli’s tenant, alleges that Mechelli hasstolen his rent, accused him of terrorism and had thrown in jail. Since then,Conway has sent a letter to the District Attorney to help put Mechelli away fortheft, forgery, and fraud.
Raymond Conway discovered that he had been payingrent to Mechelli for over two years and she was not the true owner of the home. An investigationrevealed that Margaret Dorn was the true owner of the house and that Mechelli falselyidentified herself as a relative and stole money from Dorn’s bank account.Neighbors indicate that Mechelli is notorious for falsely accusing neighbors ofharassment. There is an ongoing investigation. Mechelli was taken to jail forarraignment and was let go last Friday and is awaiting her hearing date.
