Attorney Depletes Veteran’s Trust

Grover Gordon, 82, hired Escondido attorney SydneyKirkland to take care of his finances. What she ended up doing was taking over $275,000 of his inheritance leftto him by good friend Bobbi Letman.

Kirkland was also Letman’s attorney so she was ableto add her own name as co-trustee and beneficiary of the trust.  Gordon didn’t understand how trusts work, butdid hire a second attorney to investigate Kirkland after a property bill wentunpaid. 

Kirkland pled guilty to grandtheft, embezzlement, and financial abuse of an elder and received 18 months injail.
