Mississippi Attorney Guilty of Embezzling $1.2 Million of Inheritance

Flowood attorney Michael J. Brown has been found guilty ofembezzling $1.2 million of inheritance money from the estate of civil rightsleader Dr. Aaron Henry.

Brown was hired for the guardianship of Henry’s grandson,Demon McClinton, and was instructed by court order to only dispense funds forMcClinton’s benefit with prior approval from the court.  Unbeknownst to the court, Brown depleted $1.2million of the inheritance money by placing the funds into his own personalescrow account.  Brown filed fraudulentpaperwork to try and conceal his crime and now faces a 40-year sentence.
