New Huguette Clark Biography

Bill Dedman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, and PaulClark Newell Jr. recently released their biography of Huguette Clark entitled, Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life ofHuguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune

Dedman stumbed upon the story of this reclusive heiresswhile house-hunting in suburban Connecticut. He noticed the most expensive house for sale was Clark’s Le Chateau,priced at $24 million.  After a bit ofresearch, Dedman discovered that Clark’s Connecticut castle, massive Santa Barbaraestate, and Fifth Avenue spread had all been unoccupied for decades.
