Indiana AG Advocating for Access to Death Certificates
TheIndiana Attorney General’s Office is asking the Indiana Supreme Court to hearthe appeal of a ruling that cause of death information should only be disclosedif certain circumstances are present, such as a direct interest in the death orthe determination of property rights. The office believes death certificates are public records that thepublic should be able to readily obtain.
TheIndiana Coalition for Open Government and the Hoosier State Press Associationis also asking the court to hear the case.
