Macabre Mix-Up

When Jerry Moon’s family opened his casket at his memorialservice, they were shocked to find a stranger in his place.

In an apparent funeral home mix-up, Moon, 72, was replacedwith the body of a 97-year-old man who died around the same time as Moon at thesame hospice care facility.  Instead ofbeing buried, Moon was cremated against his wishes.  Moon’s son says his father was terrified atthe thought of being cremated.

The two funeral homes thought to be responsible for the mix-upcould face fines, suspensions, or revocation of their licenses.
