New Mexico Supreme Court to Decide Legality of Same-Sex Marriage
The New Mexico Supreme Court is now hearing arguments onwhether to allow same-sex marriage in a state that doesn’t expressly recognizeor prohibit it.
As I have previously discussed, this issue came to theforefront after county clerks began issuing same-sex marriage licenses. Since then, at least two New Mexico judges haveupheld same-sex marriage. Many gay rightsadvocates and Republican politicians alike are welcoming the intervention ofthe state’s supreme court to clear up this issue once and for all.
The court is expected to reach a decision by the end of theyear.
