Oregon Recognizes Legalized Same-Sex Marriages
Recently, Oregon’s justice department released a legalopinion stating that Oregon state agencies must recognize legalized same- sexmarriages. The rational behind the decision was that there was not a legitimateor compelling state interest in refusing to recognize the out of state same –sexcouple marriages. Attorney General Mary Williams claims, “It is legallydefensible for Oregon agencies to recognize same-sex marriages validlyperformed in other jurisdictions.”
