Remembering Cecil George Harris
CecilGeorge Harris is being remembered for writing one of the most unique wills in history. In1948, Harris was trapped underneath a tractor for ten hours during a storm. With a pocketknife,he carved the following words into the fender: ” In case I die in thismess, I leave all to the wife.” Later that night, Harris was rescued and taken to the hospitalwhere he died from his injuries.
Thetractor will has been displayed in the University of Saskatchewan’s LawLibrary. Bob Hannay is the only living survivor of the rescue mission and recallshis role in the effort, “My part in it was just to drive the tractor upthere and pull the implement back so they could get the fellow out.”
LastFriday, the University of Saskatchewan celebrated the 65th anniversary rememberingthe unique will.
