Belgium May Legalize Child Euthanasia

Belgiumflag

Belgium is expected to soon pass a widely supported billallowing for child euthanasia.

Belgium legalized euthanasia in 2002 and has since allowedBelgians to be euthanized for depression, blindness, anorexia nervosa, and abotched sex-change operation.

Supporters of a child euthanasia law say it’s necessary andcompassionate, but opponents deem it to be the next phase of “a culture ofdeath.”  Under the new law, terminallyill or suffering children under the age of 18 can be euthanized on request aslong as their parents consent and an expert deems the child to be capable ofunderstanding their decision.
