BMW Shareholders Suspected of Seeking Quid Pro Quo

EmissionAfter the Merkel party received a substantial donation fromseveral BMW shareholders, Germany rejected more stringent European Unionemissions regulations. The opposing party is alleging that the result of thedonation revealed an “uncomfortably close relationship” between Merkeland German auto makers. The proposed rules were supposed to be implemented in2020. Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union claims that the $935,900 is unrelatedto the rejection of emission regulations.
