Napoleon’s Will Fetches Twice Expected Price
Theonly known copy of Napoleon Bonaparte’s will has sold at auction for $483,000,which is more than twice the expected price. The French buyer wishes to remain anonymous.
TheFrench emperor’s original handwritten will is currently in France’s nationalarchives. His will is dated April 16,1821, nineteen days before his death. Theailing 51-year-old Bonaparte wished his ashes to be spread over the SeineRiver, but they were instead transferred to Paris’ Invalides monument.
