In 2009, Muzzammil S. Hassan beheaded Aasiya in the couple’s Orchard Park television studio. To send a message against domestic violence, a judge has awarded a $11,277,530 plus interest judgment against Hassan. Estate attorneys believe this is one of the largest domestic -violence judgments awarded. The award will be given to the estate of Aasiya Zubir Hassan. Attorney Terrence M. Connors said, “We hope that this award has some deterrent effect” on domestic violence.
