Find Your Philanthropic Passion

GiftRecently, Paula Vasan was able to interview Richard Brown, the CEO of fee-only JNBA Financial Advisors and president of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, an organization that fits and gives away hearing aids to the hearing impaired. The interview was about providing people with advice on how to find their philanthropic passion. Brown suggests that clients should first reflect about issues that pique interest. Once clients have narrowed down the issue of interest clients should figure out what type of impact he or she wants to make and determine the goals for supporting the issue. After creating a goal, research is required to figure out how to make the goal a reality. Brown mentions that hands-on experience is the best way to see first hand how the client’s support is influencing the cause. Brown claims that finding your philanthropic passion is a personal journey and a rewarding one.
