Canada to Consider Aid-in-Dying

Canada

The Supreme Court of Canada will hear an appeal of the law that makes physician-assisted dying illegal in Canada.

The suit was launched by a B.C. couple and the BC Civil Liberties Association, who argue “that seriously and incurably ill, mentally competent adults should have the right to receive medical assistance to hasten death under specific safeguards.”  Their request that the case be expedited on behalf of those who are seriously ill was turned down.
