New Mexico Decision Could Allow for Aid-in-Dying

A New Mexico judge recently issued a landmark decision which could make New Mexico the fifth state to permit aid-in-dying.

Judge Nan Nash ruled that terminally ill, mentally competent patients have the right to choose aid-in-dying, which would allow doctors to prescribe them fatal prescriptions.

Only Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Vermont currently allow aid-in-dying.  The New Mexico Attorney General’s office is considering an appeal.
