NRA Offers Concealed Carry Liability Insurance
Members of the National Rifle Association (NRA) can now purchase concealed carry liability insurance. The pay out of such a policy is meant to cover legal costs stemming from an NRA member being charged with a criminal or civil case in a self-defense shooting case. The premium payments range from $165 annually for a $100,000 policy to $600 annually for a $1 million dollar plan. The money is paid out directly to the attorney. However, the policy only covers a policyholder that is acquitted of the charges and even then, the policy does not pay the attorney until after the acquittal. Thus, a conviction voids the policy. The NRA explains the intent behind the creation of the liability insurance on its webpage “We recognized this gap in coverage and created a plan to help protect National Rifle Association members should the unthinkable happen.”
