Americans Unprepared for Retirement

According to a new report, nearly every state falls short in key factors of retirement readiness.  The highest ranking states are Wyoming, Alaska, Minnesota, and North Dakota while the lowest ranking states are California, Florida, and South Carolina.

The report, presented at the National Institute on Retirement Security, is designed to help policymakers identify areas of policy intervention in an effort to improve people’s retirement prospects.    Another disturbing finding of the report is that older workers are suffering more from unemployment and low wages in lower-ranked states than in the past.
