Natural Earth Burials

Natural earth burials are becoming a growing trend in Australia.

A natural earth burial is “the burying of a body in a biodegradable coffin or a shroud in a shallow grave (approximately one metre deep) without the use of any chemicals, to enable a more natural decomposition.”  These burials are marked with only a tree, so the exact location is registered using a GPS.

Natural earth burials decompose the body faster and use less land.  There’s also no pollution of the soil from coffins and embalming fluids.
