First Marriage License for a Same-Sex Couple in Arkansas Issued

Kristin Seaton and Jennifer Rambo were the first same-sex couple to be issued a marriage license in Arkansas. The couple arrived early Saturday morning to be the first of ten other couples that lined up outside the courthouse waiting for it to open. The state’s constitutional amendment and earlier state law banning same-sex marriage was struck down on constitutional grounds on Friday. Judge Chris Piazza did not hold the ruling awaiting appeal as some state judges have done.
