A nurse who spent her spare time volunteering at an animal shelter in Stamford, Connecticut, left her $250,000 estate to the shelter. The city was initially concerned about accepting a gift that was specified to the shelter, but an attorney for the city said that the funds can be put into an animal shelter specific account. The assurances of the attorney will be considered by city’s Board of Representatives when the issue comes up for a vote. City Representative expressed continued concerns over the gift at their last meeting, but the city attorney reassured them that the gift from the philanthropic nurse should not pose a problem for the city.
