Hruby Family Murder Motivated by Inheritance Eerily Similar to 1958 Case

CrimeAs I have previously discussed, Alan Hruby, the Oklahoma teen who admitted to killing his family to receive financial gain through inheritance, has shaken the community and has many mourning and asking questions of how this could happen. One concerned observer of the media frenzy surrounding the event has pointed out the eerie similarities of this case to that of Lowell Lee Andrews in 1958 in Kansas.

Both Andrews and Hruby were both college students who admitted to shooting their parents and sister for monetary gain. Hruby may be facing the death penalty as Andrews did in 1962. Andrews attempted to make the scene of the crime look like a burglary and Hruby is believed to have attempted to create an alibi through social media posts. Both confessed after police suspicion was aroused by their inconsistent emotional responses to the deaths.
