The article explores the impact of high farmland prices in the U.S. as of March 2014 on small family farming operations and inheritance. It discusses several factors that contribute to increasing land prices including favorable yields, low interest rates, and poor world and U.S. economy. It highlights the potential impact of taxes on the inheritance process, and the changing farm culture. It also examines several individual and legislative efforts to preserve the family farm.
