When Divorce Turns Into a Treasure Hunt

TreasureDivorces involving ultra-wealthy individuals can involve elaborate treasure hunts by one spouse’s attorneys in order to find  assets that the other spouse has attempted to hide or shield. Often a variety of experts are brought in, including forensic accounting firms to identify red flags that assets have been hidden and track the transactions. Once assets are found, valuation experts are often needed as well. There are many risks involved in a spouse attempting to hide assets, such as loss of credibility in the proceedings and damaged reputation in future business ventures, especially when the divorce regards a high-profile couple.
