New Royal Succession Laws Focused on Gender, Religion Equality
Significant changes have come to royal succession laws in the countries in which the Queen is head of state. Under the new law female heirs to the throne born after October 2011 will not lose their place in line to younger male siblings. Additionally, the act of marrying a Catholic spouse no longer disqualifies the Royal Family member from becoming King or Queen, though Catholics still may not become King or Queen.
