Man Sentenced for Fraudulent Inheritance Scheme

Gavel 3On Friday a 54-year-old Missouri man was sentenced for scamming lenders by telling them he was the beneficiary of a multi-million dollar inheritance.  According to court documents, Dana Jefferson would tell prospective lenders that he had been left an inheritance from his deceased father’s estate.  Jefferson then tricked these lenders into providing him money until he was able to obtain the inheritance, when he would pay them back.  As a result of the scam, Jefferson obtained more than $740,000 from nine victims, which he used to purchase cars, pay for plastic surgery, cruises and a wedding.
