Judge Appoints Mediator In Martin Luther King Jr.’s Bible and Nobel Peace Prize Dispute
A Georgia court has appointed a mediator to help settle a dispute between the children of MLK Jr. over whether to sell his Bible and 1964 Nobel Peace Prize. “The fight pits the slain civil rights leader’s sons Martin Luther King III and Dexter King, who want to sell the medal and Bible, against King’s surviving daughter, Bernice King, who opposes the sale of items she calls “sacred” to the family.” Bernice King’s attorney wants the mediation to resolve the conflict and hopes to have an agreement by September 30th. The King heirs have been involved in years of legal disputes over the estate of the famous civil rights leader.
