Motion For Change Of Jurisdiction In Benson Trust Trial
The administrator of a trust that controls the Saints and Pelicans, pro sport franchises, asked a New Orleans federal judge to dismiss a case brought by owner Tom Benson seeking to force the trust to relinquish shares in the teams. The trustee argued that the case had no connection to Louisiana as the trust and corporate entities were all out of state creations and should be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. The case is part of a wider series of lawsuits involving the massive estate of Tom Benson who is being challenged by his daughter over inheritance changes involving control of the two teams and other business assets. No indication of when a ruling is expected by the judge.
