Uniform Law Commission Issues Updates To Uniform Acts

MicrophoneThe Uniform Law Commission recently wrapped up it annual meeting and announced many new acts and changes. Among the major changes is the Uniform Recognition and Enforcement of Canadian Protection Orders on Domestic Violence Act which allow U.S. courts to follow domestic violence protection orders that came from Canadian courts. The Uniform Home Foreclosure Procedures Act will help streamline foreclosures for lenders while offering protection to debtors by imposing strict notice requirements before any action may be taken by a creditor. One other big change came with the Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act which now covers the access to digital accounts by fiduciaries by giving them access by default. These changes, and others, are worth reviewing in detail due to the influence the new acts will have on future legislation.
