Civil Forfeiture Might Be Used On Estate Of Man Who Killed Himself After Marijuana Raid
Arthur Mondella was the owner of Dell’s Maraschino Cherries when investigators discovered a secret marijuana farm at his factory in Brooklyn. The man, who was known as the “Cherry King” committed suicide shortly after police discovered his illegal activities. Now the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office would like to obtain part of Aurthur Mondella’s $8.5 million estate through a civil forfeiture. If the DA is able to take part of the decedents estate it would make things difficult for his three daughters and sister who are each supposed to inherit a stake of the family business according to Mondella’s will.
