Former Police Officer Won’t Appeal Court Ruling

Bleak HouseI have previously discussed the case of former police Sgt. Aaron Goodwin who was accused of using undue influence to convince an old women to leave her fortune to him. Now, it appears his part in the case is closed as the period to file an appeal from his loss at trial has closed and his attorney has announced that no appeal will be sought. However, the battle for the estate is not yet over as the validity of an older will must now be established which could be a prolonged process. The judge in the case has already expressed concerns about the fees being charged to the estate with one firm billing over $100,000 so far. When the estate is finally resolved let us all hope something remains for the beneficiaries.
