Mississippi Considers Reform To Guardianship Laws

MississippiProfessionals and experts in guardianship issues have come together at the Mississippi Supreme Court to talk about major reforms to the state’s guardianship laws. Critics of the law as it currently stands argue that it drives up the cost for lower means citizens since it imposes a wide range of requirements on all parties involved. In addition, the complexity of guardianship law makes it hard for someone to seek guardianship without the help of a lawyer regardless of cost. If Mississippi does make changes, they will join other states, such as Texas, that has adopted major changes in recent years to make guardianship cheaper, more accessible, and offer more protections to wards.
