The Country With The Highest Fee For Renouncing Citizenship Is The United States

There are a wide variety of reasons why a person might want to renounce their citizenship.  The cost of renouncing ones citizenship can also vary from country to country.  The United States currently has the highest fee for renouncing citizenship with a cost of $2,350.  The U.S. State Department had raised the fee by 422% from $450 to $2,350 because of the increase in demand and paperwork from the growing number of U.S. expatriates.  Many people often choose to renounce their citizenship for tax reasons.  This article provides a chart comparing the country by country cost of renouncing citizenship.
