Alabama Woman Providing A Green Burial Option For Environmentally Conscious Consumers

Good earth burialAn Alabama woman is capitalizing on a growing demand for natural environmentally friendly burial options. Shelia Champion is starting The Good Earth Burial Ground which “is a privately-owned, 100-percent natural cemetery for humans and pets in Hazel Green.” The Five-acre burial grounds are scheduled to be open in December and will allow direct natural burial in a park-like setting. “Bodies will be prepared without embalming fluid, dressed in biodegradable clothing, placed into an earth-friendly shroud or casket, and buried without a vault to allow nature to take its course.” The burial ground will only allow live flowers and cremated remains will have to be kept in economical containers that are provided by the decedents family. An increasingly environmentally conscious baby boomer generation is fueling this growing demand for natural green burial services.
