The article explores the decision of the Mississippi Supreme Court over the estate of blues musicians Robert Johnson, which granted his son, Claud Johson, the estate except for ownership of “three pictures and a note.” Topics discussed include challenges facing intellectual property rights related to the Mississippi Delta Blues, the background of the case over rights on the blues musician’s estate and the ownership of culturally significant property.
