Wesley Snipes Involved In Fresh Dispute With IRS Over Tax Bill

The actor Wesley Snipes is currently involved in a new dispute with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over a $17.5 million tax bill. Mr. Snipes has previously served almost a three-year prison term after losing a battle with the IRS over unpaid taxes. He had previously petitioned the U.S. Tax Court to permit him to enter the IRS’s Fresh Start initiative to decrease the amount of unpaid taxes that the IRS was assessing against him, but the IRS subsequently denied his request. Snipes was previously convicted on three misdemeanor counts of failing to pay taxes after he made the mistake of following the advice of a tax protester organization that claimed that income taxes were illegal.
