Baby Boomers Face Stark Reality When It Comes To Retirement

Piggy BankThe Baby Boomers and the impending retirement crisis has been in the news at a growing clip as questions rightfully arise concerning the ability of the government to fully fund it’s promised benefits. However, it is not just the government that might be in denial about retirement realities, it is the Baby Boomers themselves. Many Boomers expect to retire past the age of 65 and continue working on a part time bases even after retiring on a full time basis. However, the reality for recent retiree’s is that very few end up working since jobs might not be available that appeal to the retiree or younger competition forces them out of their job. In addition, retirement savings are generally well below that which is required to properly fund the twilight years even when social security distributions are taken into account. Ultimately, many soon to be retired workers need be awakened to the facts of the post 65 world as plans that have been made might not hold together when the rubber hits the road.
